4chan is the English-language chan with the heaviest traffic and greatest number of unique users. The ever-increasing public awareness of 4chan is cited by most as the cause for what is perceived by long-time users as a general decline in post quality. Although mostly isolated to 4chan, the effects can still be seen at many of the lesser known chans. To call it a piece of shit would be an understatement.
History
