Fapchan (pChan), which pretty much stands for PornoChan, is a *chan board opened in early January 2007 that featured many boards dedicated to specific fetishes and genres of porno (mostly around live porn), but also including a rather large hentai collection and oekaki board. Originally co-founded by Smurph and Beau, it died on February 28th, 2007, which brought about an explosion of contradictory interests which nearly resulted in social meltdown between founders, and is referred to as the Bel-Air incident (due to Beau's parents finding out that he was the administrator of a porn site, and his mom got scared. She said "You're movin' with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air"). However, because Smurph is a stubborn bastard, he later re-opened under the banner of Fapchan. It is still referred to as pChan and also Fapchan. Beau, the previous owner, is no longer involved in the running of Fapchan but can, on occasion, be found in the Fapchan IRC (which is hosted on 7chan's IRC network).

History

The original idea of Fapchan was initially a joke that was brought upon by a collection of /b/tards on the spam board of the Schthack forums. That collection of people (namely Beau, Smurph, and a few anonymii) were the very few to find the potential in this dedicated pornchan. Beau, the cunning little Irish boy, decided to take that joke a further step and use the money he had to purchase a domain under the name pchan.org (which Smurph recently bought for an undisclosed amount of lucky charms) With that he also bought server space from fukt.org, one of 7chan's sub-servers at the time.

This community slowly grew and the administrators began to realize they needed a dedicated server. They did exactly that and bought a server through bestofdata/dediboxworld, and in the process had to restart the boards from the beginning.

There was a switch to a proprietary but incomplete software, KarantanIB, written by the Swedish man known as mytoz. There was no moderation interface, and everything had to be done by hand. Within days of this, Beau, being the naive shota he is, had a link to pChan in his MSN name. MSN fucked up and unblocked his mother from seeing that he was online, and his mother followed the link, did a bit of googling, and found her way to this article. Drama ensued between Beau, his parents, and Smurph. Beau's Irish Catholic mother thought Smurph to be a pedophile due to a joke news post. Afterward, there was a bit of an internet altercation, in which pChan's assets ended up split among the two founders.

Fapchan

May 4, 2007: re-opened its doors on a free host, mainly to garner donations for a dedicated server.

May 5, 2007: acquired dedicated server. Smurph fucked with Trevorchan and had to reinstall it.

May 7, 2007: linked with 7chan to host its NSFW boards.

May 6, 2007: data center fucked up, and Fapchan got free 100mbit.

May 9, 2007: Smurph messed with Lunix, resulting in a 2-day downtime due to slow tech response.

May 11, 2007: comes back online after previously stated downtime.

August 3, 2007: redirects to hai2u.com after Smurph breaks referrals, most probably an attempt to prevent people leeching the websites bandwidth through hot linking of images. The site was still available through www.fapchan.org, but its boards were unavailable to those trying to get there via the fap.7chan.org links in 7chan's porn section.

August 4, 2007: returns to normal service with the referral system removed.

August 19, 2007: undergoes network problems. Maksuf and Smurph have been working on a solution for the past few weeks and have yet to find any temporary fix.

August 27, 2007: 7chan unlinks from Fapchan due to lack of niggabits.

August 28, 2007: begins its transfer to a new host.

September 3, 2007: rm -rf / is run as root on the old server, and all ties with the old, shitty host are cut.

September 6, 2007: new server ordered.

September 18, 2007: comes back online.

March 3, 2008: Dies, comes back

June 22, 2008: Not4chan grab' autorename is enabled on fapchan

September 13, 2008: Fapchan dies

October 9, 2008: Fapchan returns with a new server and host

December 5, 2008: In order to combat spam, proxy autobanning and a DNSBL are implemented

December 31, 2008: Fapchan's third birthday (according to domain registrar)
